A blue-sky UK shoreline — the kind of day the LKSA forecast is built to find, now on any device

The LKSA web app — the forecast on Android, Windows and everything else

Sunday 19 July 2026 — London Kitesurfers — by Alan Jay

Since launch, the London Kitesurfers app has been iPhone, iPad and Mac only — and every month someone on the beach asks the same question: “when’s it coming to Android?” The honest answer used to be “not soon”. The better answer, as of now, is: open londonkitesurfers.com/webapp on any phone, tablet or computer.

It’s a full web app — not a cut-down mobile page. It installs to your home screen or desktop, works offline once loaded, and runs the same forecast intelligence as the native app, fed by the same data pipeline that updates seven times a day.

What’s in it

The live map — every LKSA spot with the app’s wind-tier colour coding, direction arrows at the day’s best window, date pills that change colour with the wind, favourites, far-afield spots, BKSA schools, and the same Legend info box as the app — including kite-size hints for your weight.

Spot pages — hourly wind and tide, daylight-clipped “when you can kite” tide windows for the tide-restricted beaches, beach data, sewage alerts, what3words and directions.

Going & trips — declare “I’m going”, see who else is heading where, and plan a trip with the app’s full timing model: pick your on-the-water time and it works back to when to leave home, with calendar export and KitePool lift-share links pre-filled with your plan.

Push notifications — star your favourite spots and get an alert when one goes kiteable, same rules and timing as the iOS app.

A session log — import GPX from any watch or tracking app (or connect Strava), and get GP3S-style speed ladders, runs, personal bests, year-by-year stats, a world map of your sessions and the archived wind for every day you kited. Everything is computed and stored on your device.

Install it like an app

Android (Chrome or Samsung Internet): open the web app, tap the browser menu ⋮ and choose Add to Home screen (Chrome may show an Install app banner). It gets its own icon and opens full-screen.

Windows (Chrome or Edge): open the web app and click the install icon in the address bar (a small monitor with a down arrow), or menu → AppsInstall this site as an app. It appears in your Start menu like any program.

iPhone / iPad / Mac: you want the real thing — the native LKSA app does everything the web app does plus Live Activities, Siri, widgets and Apple Health import.

There’s a full step-by-step for every platform under More → Install inside the web app itself.

Same principles as always: no accounts, no logins, no ads, no tracking. The web app stores your favourites, trips and sessions in your own browser, and the lightweight website you’re reading now stays exactly as fast as it was — the web app is a separate layer at /webapp/ that you opt into.

It moves quickly — the version number under the More tab ticks up almost daily, and new native-app features arrive on the web on a rolling basis. If something looks wrong or missing, tell us in the usual WhatsApp channels.
