Large north-east-facing sandy beach with a huge grass promenade behind it — excellent for rigging — and one of the few Essex spots that works in a northeasterly. When the wind has been up for a day or two a small shore break forms. Don’t launch within 2 hours of high water: at HW the sea comes right up to the concrete sea wall in the middle of the bay; the ends of the bay stay more usable. Groynes run the length of the bay — at low tide they’re well clear of the water; at mid-to-high tide know where they are before launching. Not heavily crowded except on a good NE day (10–20 kites when it lights up). Beginners OK at low tide if they set up upwind of the wall. Schools nearby: Push Kiting (Clacton / Point Clear, ~15 min), Zenith Kiting (Clacton). Food options in town (~10 min walk): Nick’s Fish Bar (Connaught Ave) and The Lock & Barrel pub.
No measured beach/groyne height for this spot yet — log a beach report to add one.
🧭 Wind directions
Faces ESE into the North Sea (NE–SW coast). Onshore is the E–SE quadrant, but the working set is deliberately narrow (NE–ENE) — groynes and shallow patches make the southerly onshore directions unreliable here; offshore is W–NW (off the land). HARD NO 2.5 h either side of HW (groynes, no beach).
green = works (brightest = side-on) · blue = cross-shore · orange = side-off / unproven (care) · red = offshore, never · grey = excluded locally
Next 7 days at Frinton-on-SeaNo kiteable window shows at Frinton-on-Sea in the next 7 days — wrong direction or too light throughout. AROME and UKV 2km agree (within ~1 kt) over the next 60 h — confidence good (lead model here: UKV 2km).
