London Kitesurfers app — Privacy Policy

Effective 20 June 2026

This app collects no personal data. The only optional, anonymous data we ever receive from you is an Apple push token if you turn on session reminders — covered below.

Short version

The London Kitesurfers app does not collect personal data. There is no account, no login, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not know who you are, and we don’t want to — the app simply shows you the kitesurf forecast. The one optional exception is the push-notification feature for favourite spots, described in its own section below.

What the app does

When you open the app it downloads a single public, read-only data file (a data.json file) from londonkitesurfers.com over a secure (HTTPS) connection. That file is the same forecast data published on the website. The app does not send us any information about you in return.

Data we collect by default

None. Specifically, the app does not collect or store: your name, email, contact details, location, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, or any other personal information. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted to us, shared with third parties, or sold — ever.

Optional: push notifications for favourite spots

When you tap the star to favourite a spot the app may ask permission to send notifications. If you grant it, your device’s Apple push token plus the slugs of your favourited spots (e.g. frinton, eastwittering) are stored on our Cloudflare Worker. We use this to send up-to-72-hour-ahead session reminders for those spots — nothing else.

What we do not store alongside that token: your name, email, account details, location, age, IP address, device model, OS version, or any usage data. The token itself is an opaque string assigned by Apple that can only be used to deliver a push to your device — it is not a profile.

How to turn it off and have us forget you: open the app → gear icon in the top bar → Notify about favourite spots → switch off. The app will immediately ask our Cloudflare Worker to delete its record of your push token and favourites. Uninstalling the app also has the same effect — Apple invalidates the token, and our server drops it the next time the cron tries to deliver to it.

Server logs

Because the app fetches a file over the internet, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may record standard, anonymous technical request logs — such as an IP address and the time of the request — purely to deliver the file and to keep the service secure. These logs are not used to identify you and are not linked to any profile.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
